One instance that I relate to the points made about scenario creation is actually the practice of game design. In game design, one usually begins with a scenario that then informs all of a game’s programming, mechanics, art, narrative, and sound. Similar to radio, a game must remain engaging while finding nuanced ways to introduce story, characters, and world-building while not disrupting or hijacking the pace of the experience. I believe a similar level of ingenuity must be required to even build the foundation for potentially great work.
When it comes to pacing a narrative I believe the practice of live performance, specifically with music is similarly delicate. When discussing rhythm, and the comprehensive view one must take in order to understand how to pace a story in order to produce specific emotional outcomes, I find that the way I structure my own performance is with a similar mindset. It is in withholding an element that has a lot of impact, and drawing out tension that certain elements in the work can then transcend their form and work towards the larger goal or feeling the creative aspires for.
